There has been a lot of interest in the project which will see 2 additional courts and toilet facilities installed for our members. The project team would like you to know the following:
- Predicted starting date for construction is September 2018
- Play will not be disrupted during construction with a health and safety plan in place which will include temporary fencing and a dust protection barrier
- LED lanterns will be installed to light the new courts – this will yield a 30% saving in potential running costs
- The grant allocation was €144,000 and the club had to contribute an additional €7,940 to be awarded the grant. The phase 2 project will come in at a higher amount than the sum of the grant and our contribution- this is why it was so important to have such successful fundraisers such as the bag pack and the Bit Hit. A huge thank you to the members who organized these events.
The Big Hit
Mere words cannot do justice to the great evening run by the Fundraising and Social Committee last Saturday 9th June. The evening was a scorcher with 24 players signed up to the tournament. There were mothers playing versus sons, sisters versus sisters, league players and novices alike.
Temperatures reached 21 degrees and finally the whistle blew to signify end of play at 8 pm. Players and supporters were treated to a delicious al fresco glass of prosecco down at the courts jointly sponsored by Keelings pub and Ali Hand.
The crowd were entertained by our very own Philip Meyler who always brings his infectious energy and enthusiasm to the court as a player, and this time also as compere for the proceedings.
A fabulous evening was had by all back in the clubhouse.
GRATEFUL THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CAME ON THE NIGHT, BOUGHT SERVES, DONATED, SPONSORED PRIZES OR PUBLICISED THE EVENT AND HELPED IN ANYWAY. IT WAS A TOUR DE FORCE – A CLASS ACT BY A CLASS CLUB
