The Donabate Portrane Tennis Club project kicked off in September 2013 by a group of local residents passionate about tennis. A steering committee was formed to drive the project.
In July 2014, we received a grant of €180,677 from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. In early 2015, after negotiations with Donabate Golf Club, part of the golf course practice ground has been agreed as a site for tennis courts. An application for planning permission for the courts was lodged on May 25th, 2015 and granted on September 30th, 2015. Tender documents were sent out on 8th January, 2016.
Four floodlit tiger turf courts were built and were up and running in July 2016 and two more planned in due course. The luxurious Donabate Golf Club House is available for use by the Tennis Club members.
